I have a friend who will travel to USA for business (already got visa), and he wishes to
visit Canada for less than a week. Does he have to apply for a visitor visa after arriving
in USA, or can he do it in his homeland (before going to USA)?
Thanks in advance for your information!

He can apply before he travels if time is a problem. Jim Humphries, former visa officer

What is his citizenship? He may not require a Canadian Visitor Visa (CVV).

When your friend is only visiting you and then needs to go back to the US to fly back to
his origin country without working coming back to the US he doesn't need a visa at all.
Just tell both immigration officers - to Canada and back to the US - that he visits a
friend and he will get a "holiday" Visa. This will be fine as long as he doesn`t work
again coming back to the States

Ignore the above statement. If your friend requires a Canadian Visitor Visa
(CVV) he should obtain prior to going to the US. It is much faster to obtain the CVV in
the home country rather than the US.
