Default Visa Issue Time Period

Hi all,

We had the news we were hoping for today, my girlfriend has had her PR approved Will be celebrating tonight with some frosty brewskis. Apart from the effort involved in filling out the application and gathering documents it has been relatively painless and fast - 3 months to the day in fact.

I have a question regarding the next step though - mailing her passport for visa issue. We currently live in Vancouver and the passport needs to be mailed to London. My girlfriend flies home for 3 weeks on December 17th. We obviously don't want to risk her not having the passport back in time to go home for Christmas so we thought it would be best for her to courier it the day she got back to the UK. My question is, will 3 weeks be sufficient time or will she run the risk of not having it back in time for her return flight?

Hi
I would put a note in with the passport to that effect, I would also take it and hand it in then go back a fortnight later and collect it as many have done.
good luck
lol

I think Thursday is the day, but someone else will no doubt confirm that. It also has to be considered that the post in UK over Xmas may be a lot slower than normal....so if you have to post I would send it Special Delivery, Signed for next day enclosing a pre-paid special delivery envelope back to you.
Hope this helps

One hitch the OP will be arriving on 17th a Thursday so she won't be able to drop it on that date. So the next date is the 24th, (Good luck) and the pickup would be 7th of January, if the closure on the 25th, 28th and 1st don't effect it.It would appear that if she is going for 3 weeks she would be returning on about the 7th.
