Hi,
My current work permit (emp. authorization) expires on Nov 6 2003.
I had applied for extension of my work permit on Aug 20 th to
Vegerville. They are late by about 2 months.

I have to go to my country (India) for about a month, on Nov. 1. It
is very unlikely that my case will be proceed by then.
I also need an entry vise from New Delh to come back
What happens to my work permit application if I leave without getting
an answer from them? What do I apply for at New Delhi vis post.

What are my options?

The best option is to receive the Work Permit before you go assuming
you can change the date of your trip.

The second option is you can have somebody forward the work permit by
courier to you in India and you can apply for the "Visa" in New Delhi
with the new work permit.

The third option is to apply for a visitor visa in New Delhi without
the work permit. But you will be complicating your entry back in
Canada when you have a visitor visa with an intention to work.
