update on new immigration law

Dear All!

gretings! i would like to know if there are any updates on the new immigration laws,
i remember reading/hearing that they were supposed to enable a certain law regarding
the national occupation list. any information would be greatly appreciated.

Three years of recent skilled work experience 20

Four years of recent skilled work experience 25

VALIDATED ARRANGED EMPLOYMENT Maximum 10

Arranged employment in Canada validated by HRDC 10

ADAPTABILITY
Maximum 10

* Spouse's (including common-law partner's) education

- Masters or Ph.D. 5

- Bachelor degree or three year diploma 4

- one - two years post-secondary education 3

* Minimum one year full time authorized work in Canada 5

* Minimum two years full time post-secondary study in Canada 5

* Informal job offer in Canada in keeping with past experience or education 5

* Family member in Canada 5

TOTAL
Maximum 100

when is this bill coming into effect ??

Is this bill retroactive ?? In other words, if I apply within a month or so, will my
application be processed using the new bill ?

If you apply now then your application will be evaluated under new law only if
decision in principle is not made by the time new law is implemented. New law will be
implemented not later than June 2002.
