uk question
My wife in Canada is sponsoring me( i'm in the UK) and we're about a month
away now from submitting our application ( just waiting on my medical). I read a post about, you are requested to send in you passport and they stick the PR sticker on it. My worry is when in the process does this take place? and for how long will they have my passport? It's just i have trips planned for September and December to Canada and don't want to book my flights yet incase i won't have a passport. Thanks Tommy |
Re: uk question
The passport request is the very last stage of the application. So once
you have all your medical results etc and all teh forms your wife will submit them to CPC Mississauga in Ontario. They will approve her as a sponsor and then once that is done they will send the parts relevatn to you to CHC London. They will then assign you a file number and send you an Acknowledgment Of REceipt (AOR) telling you this information. Some time later (as you have done yoru medicals upfront - normally they request you do medicals but you have done this so it will be faster) they will request your passport so they can affix the visa and they will then return it along with the other paperwork for landing etc. Once they request your passport you have 60 days to submit it. Once yous ubmit it they aim to return it to you within 10 working days, which is about 2 weeks including weekends. When I sent mine in it took 9 days including one weekend. I have not heard of anyone really from the UK applying via CHC London having their passport take longer than 2 weeks to be sent back. So say you send in your application in a month or so that would be say 1st august. The end to end time could be anywhere from 4 months to 6 months+, hopefully more towards the quick end if you have done medicals upfront and have no complications. So the earliest yoru passport request would come in would be say end of December/January and maybe more like Feb or March next year. So i don't think a trip in September would be any issue and probably not december either, also bear in mind you have a month or two to submit the passport so unless it's a superlong trip you could just wait till you get back if the request arrived just before your trip. drew Tommy Kinsman wrote: > My wife in Canada is sponsoring me( i'm in the UK) and we're about a month > away now from submitting our application ( just waiting on my medical).
