Default UK GP attempting Express Entry route

Dear friends,

I am struggling to gain any clarity..
I am a UK based GP with 7 years experience (have the MRCGP and the CCT via examinations). I did my MBBS from India.

I am attempting to have Residency via the Express Entry route and eventually plan to explore job options in BC or Ontario areas.

I wanted to ask the following questions:

1. As a General Practitioner/ Family physician my understanding is that my 'level of education' will be 'Masters degree or a professional degree needed to practice in a licensed profession'. Is that correct? If yes, then it appears that the ECA shall be for MBBS. If so, then can one claim points for experience as a GP?

2. Can WES or any other organisation issue me an ECA for MBBS or MRCGP or for both? Or does it have to be MCC (through Physiciansapply.ca)?

3. Also I have already contacted the MCC and they say that they can Source Verify my MBBS, MRCGP (Specialist training) and Internship, however for the IRCC/ Visa purposes shall only issue me ECA for the MBBS. Will this be sufficient given the fact that I am claiming points in experience for me being a GP?

Please let me know.
regards
MC

hi

Welcome to BE.

1. I can't recall how many points i got for but I think you can claim for postgraduate too. check the scoring system to see how many points you get.

2. no..only MCC.ca is acceptable for your profession. the other one is not acceptable for medical. check CIC website!

3. Yes! you will get source verified your MBBS/MRCGP - you need these when you apply to do MCCQE1&2. You will get points for your experience but for those you will need to provide evidence of reference letter from employers with specific details.

Check the wiki for more comprehensive info about visa routes.

good luck!

Many thanks for the reply and suggestions. I shall start looking into the process further.

Hello guys,

I am new to this site. I am a Gp in UK. I am like others at the end of the tether and trying to look for other options. I have pretty much decided on the Canada move. I am 4 years post vts. I am 41. I need advice guys. I am unsure whether this is the thread to ask.

1) source verification.is for mbbs and Mrcgp documents. That's it isn't it. What about letters from supervisors or trainers about experience. If the letters are needed recognising the training, then is that for whole vts and post vts. Is there a format for these letters. Is it just last 3 years or from vts until now. Somewhere I heard its from internship onwards. I did house officer job in 2003 where in the had 6 months of surgical training and since then I have not done surgical work. Is it necessary in the last 5 years.
2) rcgp good standing letter. I have one from 2016 but I don't have rcgp membership. Do I need to renew or retake membership and get another letter
3) psychiatry 8 week rotation how important is that.
4) are both the exams mccqe1 and 2 needed before applying for the jobs

I feel all my questions have been answered before and there must be a thread. Please direct me or answer these questions. I saw guys like hasan and snoop dog helping in some thread. Please help guys.
Finally I have a 9 year old girl with mild autism. Is UK better to stay for Canada better in terms of support and education. I was planning to come there explore and then come back if education and support is not brilliant.

Thanks guys
Ajay

It's the scores that you need to look into first.

Firstly, the FSW selection grid score has to be over 67 to get into the Express entry area.
What is the pass mark for the federal skilled worker selection grid?

Then the actual CRS score based upon various credentials which is here:
Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) tool: skilled immigrants (Express Entry)

The experience side I'm not too sure. The MOD's should be awake soon and be able to reply to you situation.

Hi, welcome to BE. As this is a really old thread, please do start your own instead to ask your questions. Check your CRS score first, to give that as it's important info, as your'e 41 you may find you don't score enough without a job offer.

For info on autism, I suggest you do a search of the main forum, there are loads of useful posts particularly by forum member dbd33, which are full of info - the general consensus is that Canada is the last place to be trying to move to with an autistic child I'm afraid, but the threads will give you more info.

Good luck.

Hi Ajay

there is a thread specially for UK GP go through it as you will find answer to most of your questions.

You need to choose which province in Canada you want to relocate then look at the process of registration as GP. Province dose matter as what kind of exams or no exam you need to do prior.

1. source verification: yes u do need those. - MBBS/MRCGP/CCT. Also check what other documents you need to notarized for equivalent of RCGP = CFPC and the GMC equivlant = regulatory body in each province. so you can get all notarized once. like MRCGP membership certification.

You need letter from all UK GP work as you will claim points for those for your PR application but don't need it for the college registration. college usually will ask for CV but some may ask proof. so your province choice will dictate what other docs you need.

letter for PR immigration: from all your employer for GP work experience need to have your duties/salary/house worked/ any contract/payslip etc is helpful. check your NOC code for GP and ensure most of those duties which you do anyway included. easiest is that you draft the letter then ask the employer to make any changes and sign on letter headed paper.

2. for CFPC registration you need RCGP membership....till you got your Canada registration then keep RCGP membership I am afraid to say. don't need any letter. you will need good standing letter from GMC but need that when you apply to the college.

3. Psy: depends on your province but doubt its significance.

4. no you don't need to do QE1-2 but if you do prior to relocation that will give you a lot of ability to find employer easily. without those you have to apply for supervised job i.e. some one will supervise you cases and also take a cut of your pay. but QE1-2 you need to do by 3 yrs depending on the province you choose to go.

Re autistic child- sorry can't tell you first hand experience so will leave that to some others with first hand experience to share their stories.

good luck....

Thank you so much guys. That was kind of you to give me an idea. I will do further checks before embarking on this journey if I have to step on.
I have already started the ball rolling in health match bc. Will see how it goes.

Hi Ajay,

I am in the middle of doing a similar thing. Applying through healthmatchbc but also via express entry so I have PR when I arrive (one less thing to worry about). Let me know how you get on.
