Unhappy TWP renewal, implied status, re-entering Canada

Hi I will be renewing my TWP online this week, I hear it takes about 50 days or so to happen. My permit expires on August 10th. So I assume I will be on what they call "implied status" during that term.

The trouble is, I have a business trip coming up on around August 4th in New York. Am I going to have a problem getting back into Canada? This trip is quite important and I can't really postpone it as it's an event. Perhaps there is a workaround?

Thanks for your help

Pete

1. You shouldn't have trouble returning until a decision is reached, BUT, you can't return to work, as your implied status ends once you depart Canada.

From FW Manual

5.22. Work without a work permit R186(u)—Implied status
R186(u) allows for persons to continue working under the conditions of an expired work permit, as long as they applied for a new work permit before the original work permit expired and have remained in Canada.

2. You can attempt to extend your work permit when you re-enter Canada at the port of entry.

Thanks. So that's the case even though my permit wouldn't have technically expired?

Then I have to make the assumption that you will return before the 10th? if so, then you are fine.

Yes I will return on the 5th most likely. That's great then. Thanks for your advice...
