Question Two months and heard nothing

We sent off our application forms 2 months ago with cheque for perm residency visas. We havent heard anything yet - not even acknowledgement of receipt. Is this normal - what should we expect - do I need to start pestering anyone?
We have no represenative - we are mangaing the process ourselves
Thanks for any advise!

If you submitted only simplified application form with fees and no arranged employment then you may wait several months before you get file number, if at all. If your occupation will not make to not created yet list of occupations in high demand then your application will be returned without processing.

If you seriously want to move to Canada then get arranged employment first.

Andrew - any word on what's happening with arranged employment once the new rules come in? Will it be left unaffected?

As I already stated number of times here in past few months - cases with PNP and arranged employment will not be affected and will continue getting high priority, expedited processing.

Hi we submitted same simplified app as you on 2 April and got a letter last week with receipt for fees etc took about 13 weeks.......

....the standard letter with the receipt looked like one of those 'lets print a million of them and stick some stickers on them all' type.......

.......saying basically.....'we have got no idea whats happening at this time........don't ring us we'll ring you'...........good luck

......

Andrew

as I don't want to go to Canada for at least 3 years do you think its worth sticking with my simplified SW App.......at least for the laugh.....if nothing else

....and then start looking for arranged employment in about 2 years time??

......could be 2 changes of government in that time !!!!!!

We applied back in november, my OH took the application in person to Canada House and got a receipt straight away. We have just got a letter asking if we still wish to proceed and have 60 days to say no, (not that we are going to do that). We are thinking that they are not going to look at our application for a further 2 months, so we sit and wait until then.
All the best with your application.

They asked you if you still wish to proceed? Not heard that one before. Why did they do that?

Not sure why they asked us that, guessing it was a last chance back out time to get our money back.

We have applied for PR on the fast track application (10 month wait so far)

I saw a pot from someone else in this immigration forum saying they had received a letter asking the same thing....I guess it is an attempt to filter out any applications that people no longer want progressing as an attempt to reduce the backlog?

Fast track? You mean the newer simplified process? It isn't any faster.

Well they call it the fast track or simplified application but we are not holding our breath. it will happen when it happens, just plod along until then.
Have started to get the house in order and have stopped buying anything that is not essential.
Still having the great debate as to take all our house contents or not. We are hoping for a simpler life in Canada and hope to have a nice RV and a basic home, so that we can tour the Americas to our hearts content.

Best of to you all

Their definition of fast is 12 months as opposed to between 5 years and never...
