Travelling to Canada as a family

We received my husbands work permit letter yesterday, I know this isn’t activated until we activate it at the border.
we are hoping to travel to Canada in January, we are hoping to all travel as a family, the only information I can find online regarding exemption for myself and the kids is if your joining a temporary worker already in Canada, is travelling together at the moment possible or with current restrictions would he have the fly and then we join him?

thanks

If you're arriving from the UK then yes the family needs permission to travel. You can ask for permission to travel together (there is provision for that) but you might not necessarily get it.

Thanks as I thought.
do you have the details of where I apply for this? Looking in the Canada website all I can see is applying for a visitors visa 🤔
TIA
