If you landed in July you should have your PR card by now.

Air Canada say you don't need one if you have a visa waiver passport:

"Permanent residents from a non visa-waiver country returning to Canada are required to provide the wallet-sized plastic Permanent Resident Card or a visa to re-enter Canada."

http://www.aircanada.com/en/travelin...traveldoc.html

Some other airlines, especially charter airlines, may not be so flexible unless you have a return ticket.

If you must get a Travel Document as far as I know it's normally valid for 6 months (single entry).

We landed and had to return to the UK...... They wouldn't let us send it to a friends address over there as they new we weren't staying.
