Default Times for background and eligibility checks

Hi,

We are pretty close to getting our decision to if we can enter Canada now under the FSW path.

However when we accepted our invite we hadn't received my husbands FBI clearance back yet (He has spent a ton of time in the USA since he was 18 so required an FBI check despite it only being vacations). They requested it and a month later it finally arrived after months of waiting (We was aware of them needing this and tried to get it before our acceptance deadline). We submitted it, and now our application is just saying they are reviewing eligibility and background checks, our medicals have been passed, we have paid the money we needed to, we don't need biometrics or an interview.

What I am asking is people who have been through this process, how long did it take from submitting the additional information to a decision. We have our 6 month average deadline coming up on June 9th and we are starting to make
preparations as we would like to go when we have been approved or making a decision on what we are going to do otherwise.

Once the background checks have been done will this trigger the eligibility as well, are they tied together?

Unfortunately it depends on the background checks, it can be anywhere from a few weeks to a year, depending on what they find. Somebody straightforward it'll maybe a month, but somebody that isn't from an 'easy' country like the UK, or who perhaps shares a name with somebody on a terrorist list somewhere, or who has travelled to high risk countries, etc, it'll take much longer.

Hopefully not too much longer though. Good luck.

Fingers crossed, we was both born in the U.K. and have lived here all of our adult lives and have never travelled to high risk countries (although debatable with the USA at the moment ). Either way once we hit June 9th we will be able to get case notes to see what is holding it up.

This was more just a feeler for if anyone else it also awaiting the background check stage to be completed and how long they've had to wait.
