re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland
Ok, for anyone keeping score at home it has been 5 weeks since the helpline told me I would have an appointment in 3 weeks, after calling them once at the three week mark and again just over 4 weeks I received an email on thursday 6th August to tell me I've been booked for an interview at 9am Tomorrow, the 11th.
So, yes it took longer than the stated 3 weeks (5 weeks 1 day from phone call to appointment) but not too long really and with our situation it is much easier not to travel to the border.
The only less than comfortable aspect is their calling it a 'final determination interview' has anyone here gone through the process of 'landing' in country? What does this interview entail or is it just the same process as the border called an unsettling name?

When I went, my sponsor and I (they have to attend) gave our names at the desk and waited to be called then were taken into an office where we were met by a really nice and friendly Immigration officer. She went through asking the usual questions (IIRC - has anything changed; are you still living together; is everyone included on your application; have you been arrested or found guilty of any offense since you applied; what colour are your eyes), asked us for documents to prove who we were and to show we had paid the ROPR fee (which you can pay there if you haven't). She gave me the document to initial and sign and that was about it.
She was joking throughout the interview and when it was over said "Welcome to Canada".
Best of luck with your interview tomorrow - and 'Welcome to Canada!"

I landed 'inland' in 2010 and whilst they call it a final determination interview, it's likely the same as 'landing' at the border.

For anyone else thinking of 'landing' in country my experience was pretty much the same. A couple verification questions, 'Sign here, initial here. Welcome to Canada.' I was back on the streets of Calgary by 9:25.
Thank you everyone for your support through this process.... next step, citizenship.....
