re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland
So my last IEC runs out on May 31st and instead of applying for a visitors visa online/ by mail, myself and my fiancé are planning a trip into the states (were not to far from the border), for a camping trip, then on our return to Canada entering on a visitor visa. (Reason I'd rather do this than apply by mail or online is to save $$$). I then plan just waiting out for my PR in Canada with my fiancé. Of course anything can happen at the border both the US and Canada side...But is this an ok thing to do? And addtionally of course I'll be taking proof of PR app etc with me as well as making clear I no not to work etc.... I think I'm MOST worried about be rejected from US as I won't have a valid status in Canada for my return ? Any advice greatly appreciated.

I did however get given a bit of grief by the 'Mericans. I didn't have proof that I was leaving North America, and I didn't have a visa or anything to prove I was a) going to return to Canada and b) That I would be allowed back!
It turned out to be fine, but a heads up that the 'Mericans might be the ones to cause you a bit of grief!

That didn't make a lot of sense! But if you're asking about timescales, the same answer you had last time still stands, you can check processing times on that link again - http://britishexpats.com/forum/showp...postcount=2263 When did you apply?
For future questions, it would be worth stating that you are in Pakistan (or put your location in your profile), as most on this thread are applying via London so their answers may not necessarily apply to you.
HTH, good luck.

So if your application was transferred on 12 Feb, then 11 months from then is 11 Jan... again, that's 11 months for 80% of applications. Yours could be quicker (average is 6ish months for straight-forward applications) or yours could be in the 20% that's longer than 11 months.
It's hard to say for sure. Most vast majority of people who apply through London are British or Irish and on visa-exempt passports... because you are in Pakistan and non-visa exempt, it's hard to compare your application to the average one that's around here.
Have you checked on CanadaVisa? That forum is for applicants from any country to Canada, so you might get more anecdotal information there.
HTH!

So I provided my RCMP police check as requested, they received it in London on Tuesday. I provided a photocopy as that was what was expressly requested in the first e-mail I received.
I then received an e-mail this morning asking for the original certificate! Frustrating that I now have to send the same information twice, it would have been much more convenient if they just requested the original certificate in the first e mail if that is what they wanted.
Well it costs over $60 to send a letter tracked from Canada to the UK, and the certificate cost $25, so that isn't a viable option, I guess I will post the original using normal mail to my family in the UK and have them send it tracked from there... that way, I know when London receives it, and I know if it doesn't arrive in a few weeks I need to order a new one. This is what I did with the photocopy, maybe that was the reason they requested the original? (coming from a UK address when I live in Canada?)

Registered International Lettermail with signed receipt costs under $20.

I think I got a bit confused on the Canada post website when I read this...
"Registered Mail - International: customers have the option to purchase an Advice of Receipt card at time of mailing. The Advice of Receipt card provides proof of delivery to the destination.
The Advice of Receipt card is attached to your Registered Mail item. Your recipient signs and dates the card, and returns it to you in the mail. This card is your proof that the recipient received your Registered Mail item."
I didn't like the sound of that as 1) I didn't trust CIC to return the card and 2) It would take a while to get it back, so I went to the tracked option, but I didn't see the passage you pointed out. Think I will go to the post office today and confirm.

Well, it has officially been 9 months yesterday since our application was received.
I know the average time is 11 months, but it still gets quite discouraging when some peoples gets approved in no time at all. I thought it was a pretty cut and dry case for us, but who knows!!
We sent them an email and got the same response everyone seems to get back. Hopefully our recent case notes should arrive by next week and that will give us a little insight as to whats going on!
I'm hoping at the VERY least we will be in the 11 month average, I would hate for it to go on longer than that, and my husbands IEC expires at the end of June!! Eeek!
