Thanks caleo, still I'm planning on leaving with my daughter with or without the process complete by mid august so I can get her school sorted. I'm hoping that's realistic, I mean worse case scenario I can go 'with dual intent', but I'll think about that nearer the time if I have to. but for now all seems on track!

Well this thread fills me with hope.
I have literally just printed off the forms for applying for PR through the common-law sponsorship route! I am both excited and nervous about the months of paperwork ahead!
Girlfriend and I will have been together for 4 years in June (3 years long distance!) and have decided that this Canada-malarkey might be worth being a full time thing!

Passports with our lovely shiny new visas in arrived just now
They received ours on the 8th April and were posted out to me yesterday - so almost 5 weeks from when they received them.

Congrats Caleo! It's been a long slog, and hopefully all worth it
I know you've postponed your plans a wee bit - but at least now you physically have everything you can relax a bit and just get on with finalising all your remaining plans
