Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London
#2701
re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland
Traditionally (for outland applications via London, at least), the order of actions went like this:
Application submitted to CPC-M
Sponsor approved by CPC-M
Application sent from CPC-M to London VO
Permanent residency approved by London VO
London VO requests passport from applicants (a.k.a. "PPR")
Applicants send passport to London VO
London VO sends passport back to applicants with visa stamped inside and COPR document
Applicants enter Canada with visa and document, and "land" as permanent residents
Applicants received PR card in the mail

Congratulations APERTURE! I know you were beginning to wonder where your PPR was but now you can rest easy. When are you going to land? You said you had an international trip coming up, are you doing it then or before you head off? Good luck, let us know how the landing goes!

victorfoxtrot, thank you! We won't be back from our international journey until after my partner's medicals expire, so we have to land before. We plan to flagpole at Niagara Falls (we've never been, so we're looking forward to it as a fun day-trip anyway). I'll be sure to post an update on the landing process--here's hoping it's a smooth one!
janham, I hope you, too, end up with a similarly quick route to COPR. (We can barely believe it ourselves.) Our stage one sponsorship was very straight-forward (right on time according to the CIC website), but the lack of contact after that was very worrying. "Chuffed" doesn't even begin to describe how we feel now!

Hey lozzyblue
From what I can make out from here and the other forum is that if the migrant is from a visa-exempt country, they don't need to send their passport. It seems to be quite the mix of the new process and old process still though. So you'll either go the old route and get a request for your passport or you'll be asked for photocopies of the picture page and then they send you a certificate.

Our First Post this evening...to celebrate receiving the exciting email to say we had completed Stage 1! Roll on London
The whole process is amazing in how random it seems to be - it so difficult to know what to plan to do -oh well we will keep checking the email and typing in the UCI number!
