Re: Timeline - FSW application to CIO in Sydney, NS

Hi Guys,
My mum applied FSW1, (she is a nurse), in the begininng of June 09 and she checked today and they haven't even cashed her bankers draft yet. Does anyone know of an email / number she can contact to see if they even received the application?? The waiting goes on forever!

Thanks so much in advance,
R

She ought to have heard by now. Did she use a courier or other recorded delivery service?

Cheers

We just had our forms returned from Sydney because I didn't write N/A or None in the box that asked about other countries of residence!

Uggg, the whole process starts again then. This is so frustrating

That is exactly why they returned my first application. Others please take note in order to avoid a month's delay.

Cheers

No she sent it regular mail, but she has checked at the bank twice and even yesterday they had still not cashed her bankers draft.

Does anyone have a number/email address that she can try to contact Sydney, NS?

Thanks all!

there is a phone number on this page http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/inFORMa...ada/sydney.asp

Not the right office but they may be able to forward her to the right people. Always worth a try

I think there is a good chance that it has been lost on its way. If I were her I would send another application, using Royal Mail's Airsure, and cancel the original draft. She could be waiting a very long time. I am not aware of anyone using the new CIO system having to wait as long as this for a response.

Good luck

Hi Again everyone!

After contacting my mum as she can't ring the number of Sydney CIC from England, and they won't speak to me because I'm not her (!) from within Canada, she has let it slip that she gave me the wrong dates and she actually posted her application to Sydney on 21st JULY:blink: Apparantly, she had it all ready at the beginning of June but was waiting for one official nursing document that took ages to be delivered to her.

I see readytomove you sent yours off around the same time, have they cashed your bankers draft before they sent the forms back to you? I am wondering now if she should give it another week or two before trying to send everything again (this time by recorded delivery as suggested!)

Does anyone else have similar timelines to 21st July that has heard / not heard??

Thanks so much!

Hi, we applied at pretty much the same time, maybe a day or so after you and our draft had not been cashed as of last week. We also have not received the 120 day e mail. I was going to check with my bank again next week. Things seem to have pretty much ground to a halt at Sydney probably with the summer vacation period. Let's hope it picks up soon. :fingerscrossed:

Hi

Although the timescales might mean there is nothing to worry about now, I am bemused over not being able to ring from England.

How would they know where someone was ringing from?

Is it the inconvenience / expense?

I find skype a cheap way for ringing abroad - although it does it need internet access.

Bali,
The number supplied by Sydney is a 1-888 number which is freephone from Canada, but does not work at all if you try it from England.

She would gladly pay to ring them if they gave their charging phone number, which is not available on any sites that I can find. She spends enough time on the phone to me, a call to the other side of the province would make no difference!!!
