Hello all
I am getting a bit worried about my immigration process time in Buffalo.
I have submitted all the papers needed and paid the ROLF as of July 2002. I
have yet to hear anything from them. My medicals were done in May 2002
almost 12 months and yet nothing yet.
Below is my timeline:
November 2001: Applied for Quebec
March 2002: Received the Quebec Certificate of Selection
March 2002: Sent the QCS and the proper papers to Buffalo
May 2002: Medicals done
July 2002: FBI and ROFL sent
Feb 2003: received a letter saying that they are doing more background
check.
Should I worry??
Thank you

That is what I am worried about... why is it taking this long to get
an answer. The other reason I am worried is as wether the French part
of Buffalo speaks to the English part as the medical request came to
me in French and the rest came to me in English.
I also did get an interview waiver in April 2002.
Mr. Miller any idea?
Thank you

There is nothing you or anyone can do - background/security check is
conducted outside of immigration by Canadian security and intelligence
agencies. Depending from your background, nationality and countries you
resided in such check may take anywhere from few months to well over a year
to conclude. You didn't indicate your nationality nor countries you resided
in thus nobody can even estimate how long it may take in your case.

I read on immigration web site that for the category we are in, Fiancee class (Family class), that if Immigration did not receive payment before June 28, 2002, then it will not be processed.

Unfortunately Algerians are subject to more detailed background/security
check, especially now after 9/11 and other terrorist acts worldwide.

Thank you Mr. Miller
I just hope that the fact I am a woman and that I have a higher education
from the USA will work to my advantage.
I am getting worried because my US Immigration papers will expire soon.
