Default Time to issue smart ID card ? Miller !

Issue Time it will take to get your smart card after landing.

Concern What type of PR proof document a person will carry when he lands after june
28 and before his smart card is sent to him ?

Earlier discussions suggest it may take upto 180 days to receive your smart id card.
Is it true ? If it is then why 180 ( 6 months ) ?

We know recently landed PRs ( less than 6 months ) are usually denied visitor entry
into US. There can be and are other reasons for denial too, but in general the
premise is that solid PR status establishment should take an average person upto 6
months. And so the logic goes at the border to request a re-attempt in 6 months, if
he still wants to. I think there is no law behind this restriction to enter US, its
just a common practice of INS at the border.

So if the smart card is, lets say, taking its sweet time of 6 months, what PR
document a person holds in hand to prove his PR status in case he wishes to
enter US ?

Can a person go back to his home country for 2 weeks, before he receives his
smart id card ?

Is US INS going to only let a PR into US if and only if he has a smart card ? If so,
then maybe the 180 day processing time for smart card may probably act as an implict
6 month post-landing window, before one can attempt a US entry !

thanks

We'll have to wait and see what processing time for issuing Maple Leaf card will be.

Nobody will get PR card at the port of entry. New immigrants will have to provide CIC
with their permanent address within 180 days from landing to have their PR cards
mailed to them.
