Default Time between interview request and the interview itself

I am in the process of sponsoring my Mother through the London, England office and am
approximately 3 months into processing.

My Mother would like to come and visit us in the meantime, but we are wondering:
(a) Whether the next stage is a request for an interview , and if so, what is
usually the time between the letter being sent and the interview itself
(she's worried she might miss the interview as a result of being with us for
a week or two
(b) If the interview was missed, how much this would affect processing, ie, how
long would it (roughly) take to get a new interview date?

Thanks in anticipation.
