Through US on PR visa

Hi there,

Does anyone know if it is possible to fly through the US on a one-way ticket to Canada with a Canadian Permanent Resident Visa in a New Zealand Passport???

I just went to book my flight and learnt that it could be a little more difficult than I thought as there are no direct flights from NZ or Australia to Canada at the moment :(
