Default For those taking IELTS

Hey All!

I just got my IELTS scores (7.5, 7.5, 8, 9) Just thought I could give people
willing to take it some tips. As far as I can see, the test is really good
at determining one's language abilities. Honestly I don't see how people
who's knowledge of English is not that great can really study for this test.
I guess the only thing they can do is to really study English and practice
at day to day things like reading English language newspapers, watch English
speaking TV etc. For those who already poses knowledge of English, like
those already living in Canada or US, there is really nothing you can study
for, in term of grammar etc, however I would strongly recommend that you buy
borrow or get otherwise (yes there are places on the internet) the practice
materials and do all the practice tests in the proper order and properly
timed. This will give you an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the
test format, get used to the pace and understand the requirements.
Personally I studied for 2 or 3 days, but I did and re-did all the practice
tests I could find. The only thing I found more or less difficult is trying
to answer questions while listening to the tapes, if you miss a point, you
can screw up the rest of the questions. Other than that it's pretty
straightforward. Another thing I can suggest is do the Academic module
first. It is a little harder, as the text for reading section and writing
module topics are a bit more complex (I guess it makes sense, good
indication of one's ability to study in English) but once you do the
Academic section, the General Training module will be a easy.

But than again, this is my personal experience, and some people may find it
useless.

I think you dont need to take the acedemic test section for Canadian
immigration purposed. Only the General part is needed.

You only need to take General section. I just suggested to do it while
practicing.
