Is there a limited time frame for applying for Canadian citizenship?
I have lived in Canada as a PR for over three years. I was not in any particular rush to become a citizen, but I have just been informed that I have a certain time frame to apply for citizenship once eligible. If I don't apply within that time frame then I would lose to chance to ever apply for citizenship.
Is this true and if so what is that time frame?

However, with processing times pushing 2 years it makes sense to me to apply once eligible if only as an insurance policy to protect your canadian residency status should you suddenly have to leave canada for a prolonged period for whatever reason in future.

Also, do note the upcoming changes in citizenship laws, that will require you to have lived in Canada for longer before being able to apply. So if you are eligible now, I'd apply now.
