Default Thailand Police certificate from Sept97- Jan99

Hello All,
Quick question on police clearance from Thailand more than 13 years ago or so. We tried to retrieve a police clearance from Thailand by sending them emails but to no avail did not receive any replies from them.

Unfortunately his passports been renewed and did not get his old passport back. We are wondering if our application in London will be delayed due to lack of thailand police clearance. Any opinion / comments will be welcome.

Many thanks

PS - we have provided a letter in our application explaining the situation. Giving it as much details as we possible e.g. job, local address, how we tried to contact Thailand re PC by enclosing the emails.

What happens if the Thai authorities refuse to respond to a request for one? Regardless of what CIC say, in many countries it is impossible for a non-resident foreigner to get a police certificate.

This may not be helpful, but..... we were in a similar position, asked to produce a cert from a Country we knew would be difficult. Sure enough, we were told the only way to get it was to appear at the local police station, in person, for fingerprinting and form filling.

This was out of the question, for various reasons.

We then got in touch with the Embassy that serves Canada, and they initially said the same.

Our lawyer said that all we could do was to provide proof of the efforts we had made (copies of emails, letters etc.) and a letter explaining why we couldn't comply, despite our best efforts. Then cross our fingers.

Eventually we managed to get a letter from the Embassy saying that they had made enquiries and found that there was nothing on record, and this was enough.

It might be worthwhile getting in touch with the Thai Embassy in Canada (or the US if they don't have one here).

Failing that, keep a record of emails, phone calls etc., ...... which you seem to have done

Good luck.

Unless you followed the instructions at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/informa...c/thailand.asp and tried to obtain the PCC, then you won't receive much sympathy from the CHC. You have to at least try.
