I posted this in the main forum but I was advised to post here too (not a bad idea ):

I have a permanent job offer letter from my future employer in Edmonton, but I'm getting the impression for a work permit application I will need a temporary job offer letter with a potential end date for my employment?

Anyone know if it would be better to ask my future employer to provide me with a temporary job offer letter to go with the work permit application and then get a permenant job offer letter once I'm out there for a permenant residency application at a later date?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Your employer would have to apply for an LMO (unless the job is lmo exempt) - do a search on here for "labour market opinion" and you should find more info.

Thanks Scott, they are in the process of getting the LMO as we speak. Do you know if the LMO will have a time limit on how long I can work for them on a TWP?

Don't think lmo has time limit but obviously temp work visa does. You will need a job offer with an end date (the 'temp' bit) even tho they want you 'permanently' thats what o'h company have done.

They will extend it for us while we are applying for pr.

LMO has to have a time limit - application should have been for a specific time period.
