Default Temporary a Work Permit at Point of Entry

Does anyone have recent experience of how long it took for TWP decision at point of entry?
I know each case is different, but any experiences / guidelines such as 20 minutes or 5 hours etc. would be great.
Thanks

How long's a piece of string?

I had a number of employees that got TWP's or IEC visas issued/renewed at various BC entry points - sometimes it took 20 minutes, other times several hours. Years ago my own TWP took around half a day to be issued.

Depends on so many personal factors, how busy the border crossing/entry point is, the workload of the officials etc. I'd treat the exercise as a day out, and not assume it'll just take a matter of minutes.

As said can vary dramatically. I got mine in around 45 mins (after referral to secondary) at YVR after landing a Monday evening at 6 pm. Was very very quiet though.

So, our experience was; we landed at YVR around 19.00 and were processed and at the hotel airport by around 21.45. The agent was very apologetic for the length of time it had taken for the transfer of our biometric information from one computer to another! And finally we're here on a three year work permit; this has been a long time coming, but so happy to be where we've wanted to call home for a long time.

It's not a 'decision' as such that is made at the PoA it's issuance of the TWP based on documents, LMIA etc., presented. If you have the correct documentation it's pretty much automatic!

Congrats on getting yours and welcome home
Next step 'PR application' ?

Depends on the port of entry, be glad it's Canadian side and not US, i've had to wait 3 hours before for a simple i94 at Buffalo,NY (which I have to renew every 3 months for work) because of the insane number of people there waiting.

I got a work permit at Winnipeg airport in about an hour and I renewed one at the ND border in about 15minutes. I'd just make sure you don't pick a tight domestic connection if you have one after your POE if you're flying in, leave 3-4hrs just so you aren't worrying about missing it.
