Default temporarily interrupting work to be consultant abroad

Hullo,

I'm a Brit on a WP at a uni in western Canada. 2 year contract and WP which explicitly names the uni. My previous employer in Europe has offered me the chance to work for them for 1 month as a consultant, requiring me to travel to China... shame. This would be paid at the same rate as my current post. My current employer has agreed in principle to me taking 1 month unpaid leave.

Does this cause any trouble with my WP, health insurance (provincial care card) or anything else that I should know about?

All advice and help gratefully received!

Thanks!
