Default Temp work permit for self employed?

Is it possible to get a work permit for self-employed work? I have the possibility of working with several Canadian Clients, but only as a self-employed worker. I would love to move my Web Development Business to Canada.

If not what other options would there be available? for example could I continue to be self employed on a partners permit?

Hi Gareth,

I have always been self-employed as an osteopath in UK, but to work in Canada I had to become 'employed'. In MTL I worked from one clinic and in Van I was based from three, but part of the same organisation. I have a feeling that an HRSDC LMO has to be full-time, but you can have more than one work permit running concurrently.

My guess would be to try and get one LMO as full-time that is approved by your potential employer and then apply for others when you are there. I don't know the details, but there must be some rule that employers rather than yourself, need to pay tax, EI, etc.

Sorry Gareth but the Work Permit has to be applied for by the prospective Employer which would tend to suggest that you can't do it for yourself (unless you own a company and as the Chief Exec you get the firm to employ you)
