Default Temp move to Canada

Good afternoon Canada forum

Would be grateful if you can add anything or see any glaring errors here

Okay so we are British Passport holders living in USA and because out GC is not a the right status we have to leave the US, by Mid October
Going to be out a maximum of a year, could be weeks
7 year rule.

Anyway work have organized the Inter Company Transfer to Canada and all forms are ready
We have a long drive from Texas in mid October, but first I want to have some basics in place

I understand I can apply for work permit at border-can it be a land crossing or only airpoort?

I then need to apply for a SIN number and get a bank account
Is there a SIN office in Niagara Falls region

How quick can I get these organised as I will not have a place to live yet, returning back to US after a max of three days to finish up here

Work advised just use the work office address for SIN number / bank account until you have a place---can this work?

Then we will look for temp rental homes

Stressful times and thanks!
Thanks for your assistance

As long as you are sure you are eligible for the ICT i.e. Executive/Senior manager or the new revamped specialized knowledge read the below linked bulletin
Operational Bulletin 575 – June 9, 2014

Work permit can be applied for at the land border but pick a bigger one not some one horse town crossing in rural Saskatchewan. You apply for a SIN at any Service Canada office and can be care of a Canadian address.
Yes Niagara Falls has a Service Canada office and I would use the Queenston/ Lewiston bridge crossing or the Rainbow Bridge or Buffalo/Fort Erie crossings.

Which category of the ICT will you be applying under? As FL said, they've really clamped down on specialised knowledge recently, so if it's that category you'll need to make sure you take lots of proof with you.

This might be useful reading too - Intra-Company Transfer-Canada : British Expat Wiki

Best of luck.
