Hi there,
Apparently some tax repayments can be claimed when emigrating from the UK,
but having dealt with Income Revenue before I'm a bit incredulous that you'd
ever get anything back from them - has anyone here taken advantage of this?

Go to the inland revenue homepage and look for form, erm, damn i think its
P85 possiubly P83 something like that. its basicaly a form to say you are
leaving the country. They will then calculate how much you earn (i presume)
up to the date you leave then that is all yoru income for that tax year so
therefore you should get a refund if you have been paying a higher rate etc
since your total years income will be a lot lower.
ive not got that far myself yet but several people from out immigration
yahoo group from the UK have all filled it in who have moved and recieved
the refund. amazing as it seems. id hurry up before they realise they are
giving back money and write some new law to make it cost usmore,.. hehe.
