I am planning to migrate to canada and have a car that I want to bring into canada as
I have already paid it off and is just three years old. Will I need to pay customs
duty on taking my car to Canada

The "no duty" part is because of the "settlers' effects" exemption for people moving
to Canada for the first time. Note that a condition of claiming the settlers' effects
exemption is that you cannot sell, or even give away, the exempted item for a full
year after importation.

It is also crucially important for the would-be importer to make sure the vehicle
(specific make / model / year) is OK for importation to Canada. Canada's vehicle
specs are similar, but not identical, to US specs, and while most cars built for the
US market are acceptable for permanent use in Canada, some models are either
forbidden entirely, or else the required modifications are simply too expensive. The
RIV site referred to above contains a link to Transport Canada's info on which cars
are or aren't admissible; be sure to check this out.
