Why not wait until Wednesday? 8817of 10000. I have the detail at work, most of these were taken in 1st 4 months, it has slowed down considerably since the new year. Don't take your time over it, but don't delay beyond this week and send it DHL, they will have it Monday.

I think your timeline says it all......
Just send it and keep your fingers crossed We didn't even think about the caps when we first sent our application and sent it in the february!

Good Luck

Absolutely, send it and if you are unable to prove the experience for all them juicy points, they can only reject it! Or you can wait two days....

No i am waiting the two days lol, i just ment after the two days e.g after wednesday would it be too late to send in as CIC are stating that any applications sent in now will most probably miss the global cap of 10,000

I think if you took on board everybodys stories you would never go for it. CIC are hopeless and we all know it, only the other week they lost our medical documents. it does make me cross as this whole process is not cheap but you have to have the patience of a saint and persever!!
I'm checking ECAS everyday at the moment

Good Luck

Here are the "applications received" published in June last year.. the remaining occupations have very similar numbers as this year.. I seem to remember a similar posting made around about this time last year stating that the cap would soon be reached and yet the numbers didn't increase by too much.. unless there is a large pile of applications to be opened and processed you should be OK..

June 4th 2011
0631 Restaurant and Food Service Managers 1,000(Cap reached)**
0811 Primary Production Managers (except Agriculture) 162
1122 Professional Occupations in Business Services to Management 1,000(Cap reached)**

3111 Specialist Physicians 882
3112 General Practitioners and Family Physicians 951
3113 Dentists 1,000(Cap reached)**
3131 Pharmacists 1,000(Cap reached)**
3142 Physiotherapists 349
3152 Registered Nurses 1,000(Cap reached)**

3233 Licensed Practical Nurses 435
4151 Psychologists 197
4152 Social Workers 697
6241 Chefs 162
6242 Cooks 321
7215 Contractors and Supervisors, Carpentry Trades 183
7216 Contractors and Supervisors, Mechanic Trades 410
7241 Electricians (except Industrial and Power System) 224
7242 Industrial Electricians 235

That's from June though, it's only March now and the numbers are comparable. Only about 1000 slots left, and I'd imagine a good chunk of those are sat at Sydney waiting to be opened/checked.

The cap wasn't reached in 2011, but don't forget it was double last year!

More info for this year:

28 Dec 5976 = 6months 6000 cases
3 Jan 6205
12 Jan 6646
16 Jan 6774
8 Feb 7828
15 Feb 8042 = 7.5 months 8000 cases
8 Mar 8817

Now that I look at this info, it seems it is filling up quicker and now CIC have stated that it is filling up quick, I expect there will be a deluge of applications.

Applications received toward the overall cap: 362 of 1,000

March 8, 2012 update: we are still receiving a high volume of applications and expect to reach the global cap of 10,000 applications very soon. People applying now should be aware that there is a strong possibility that their application may not arrive at CIC before the cap is reached.

The way I read it is.. if the next 3 occupations most likely to reach their cap 7216, 6242 and 3142 do so.. and the less likely chance that the 2 electrician occupations, 7241 and 7242 reach their cap.. then on top of that the remaining 12 occupations match the same numbers they have received in the last 8 months and double (most unlikely as they have been crawling recently).. the global cap of 10,000 will still not be met.
All of this is speculation but if anyone was a gambler it would seem a tidy bet that the cap will not be reached this year again.
