Default Surrendering IEC Visa?

Hi all,

I'm so, so sorry if this has already been asked but i give my word that I have looked on google and on this forum and haven't found any information on this.

I returned home from Canada early this week having completed a year on my Working Holiday Visa. I still have my visa in my passport (I flew from Bellingham). Should I have surrendered it before I left?

Take it out, no benefit to it being there

Might be nice to keep in case you have plans to get PR or anything like that further down the line, just to prove the dates that you originally came to Canada, but you don't need it. I believe when I swapped from my first IEC to the second, the border agent threw it away... I would've preferred to keep it, but it's not important!

I want to keep mine as a souvenir so I'll take it out when it's expired before the new one goes in (if I get another one) haha!

The border agent took one of my work permits when I activated my last one, but I kept the rest and put them in my box of mementos and useless junk.

Anyway, hope you had a fun year in Canada!

When I activated my 2nd one the guard asked me if I wanted to keep the first one or if he should just get rid of it. Still have it somewhere in the "organized" filing system I have.
