Default Study permit processing - help?

Hi all

I was just wondering how long it takes applications for study permits to be accepted. It specifies on the CIC website that, for the London office, it takes 7 weeks. My master's programme starts officially on the 3rd of September and I plan on submitting my application online in the next few days (a.s.a.p), so I think I should have time.

What sort of timelines have other people had or know of? I'm just worried that it might take longer than quoted (although I have applied to International Experience Canada twice and my permits processed sooner than expected both times - hopefully my luck will extend to my study permit too!).

Also, has anyone had to show a police cert./medical exam unexpectedly? According to the CIC website I won't necessarily require either but there's a chance they could ask I haven't been to one of the 'dodgy' countries they listed for more than 6 months tho.

Any helpful info would be much appreciated!

from direct recent experience the London office were turning them round in under a week in Mid June, (with the 7 weeks listed on the site) although this may well change as the bulk of applications start over the summer.

make sure you have completed the relevant self assessment, and get a reference number, then just submit / upload any additional documents it asks for under "MyCIC"
