Default On Study Permit

Guys, I am presently on Study Permit and I feel like dropping this semester, which just started last week. If I drop a semester, do I need to inform CIC or they will not bother about it?
Thanks

not sure, but I know there was a crack down on people getting student visas and then dropping out of their courses and using the OCWPs as Open visas. I believe CIC now wants to know about attendance and grades of the course you are meant to be be there studying to ensure that you are actually doing it.

as to whether / how they check I am not sure, but I think if you drop out of your course they will take the view you have breached the terms of your visa.

lawyers are great for these sorts of questions....

There is always the chance institution you are attending may inform them, unless of course you are dropping out and leaving the country. You could also look through this:
