Statute Codes

When applying for criminal rehabilitation, there is a column on the form that says "Statute numbers".

Does this mean you have to supply the equivalent Canadian offence for which you have been convicted?

If so, where can you find these codes?

Any help greatly appreciated.

So is the immigration process. Get used to it. Do your homework. ;)

Re: Statute Codes

well going by that, what is a minor offence over here seems very major over there.

For my offence I was fined £20, looking at the statute, if my interpretation is correct I could have got 7 years. Must be interpreting it wrong.

I doubt you're interpreting it wrong, just that different countries place different emphasis on crimes, and what is a major crime in the UK may be minor in Canada, and vice versa.

So just because it's something you got a small fine for in the UK, doesn't mean it will be the same in Canada I'm afraid. If you're sure it's the same thing, then that must be right.

When sending in the completed form for criminal rehabilitation, as "for information only".
Does it get processed quicker than normal?

It normally takes up to 12 months when applying fully, with fee etc.

Yes, info only is usually much quicker than a full app.
