Default Starting from scratch - AGAIN

So a few years ago I explored work in Canada, but decided on the US instead (I'm a regular on the US forums).
I've been working on an L1A and just been thrown a curve ball by the sponsoring office closing unexpectedly.

So i'm back to square one again. Hence why I'm here as the process has changed a lot since the last time I looked. It appears (on paper anyway) that I would qualify for Express Entry, so while I figure all that out I am wondering if I can get some recommendations for Lawyers? Annoyingly I had one, but when I moved Stateside I deleted their contact (I know, dumbass) and I can't find it anywhere.

I flicked through the Wiki and didn't see a 'list' anywhere.

Any reason you want a lawyer?

+1. Unlike US visas, a lawyer really isn't necessary for Canadian immigration unless you have complicate circumstances (criminal record, medical issues, etc).

If you qualify for EE and score enough on the CRS, then there's no reason why you couldn't do it yourself.

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. I'm really struggling to get my head around things at the moment, so it's probably something I'll start when I'm back in the UK.

Lonelycloud - the first step would be to take an IELTS English exam (required even for english speakers).

I think its best to apply as soon as possible.

I was actually looking at the IELTS today. They have a couple of test centers here in Portland, so I will be doing that in the next couple of weeks.

Am I right in thinking that my wife will have to complete one as well?

Actually, the first step is to see if you would score enough points (CRS) - no point in spending money out at this stage if you won't qualify to be invited!

It's not compulsory for her to do so, but you'll get extra points if she does - so it depends on your points score as to whether or not you need those points.
