Starting the Process
 

Hello all,

A bit of background - I am American, my wife is British. We lived in Canada for a year together on the "working holiday" type visa, and we got married there in April 2013. A few months after we got married, we moved to the UK, where we've been ever since.

We miss Canada in an immense way. We want to go back!

We are both still pretty young, in our mid-20's. We both have music degrees so as you can imagine, we do not have skilled work experience from The List. We worked retail when we lived in Canada, I had an assistant manager position. We've looked into the best ways to get into Canada, and contacted a visa service, and the consensus is that getting into Canada on a student visa to obtain a master's degree is the best path to permanent migration given our situation. (I would get my master's in something on The List, not in music, so as to facilitate obtaining permanent residency when the time came.)

Can anyone give me any insight or advice on how to proceed? Is a student visa our best bet? Is it likely that we'd obtain permanent residency through the BC PNP after I graduated? Any thoughts very welcome, please and thank you! :lol:

Why don't you review the BC PNP website? It has information on educational qualification criteria. The other primary method is through employer sponsorship. Good luck.

Because I lived in America for 23 years and saw lives completely ruined from the lack of socialized medicine. Plus Canada is a good halfway point between the USA and the UK, culturally.

Also because we did live in Canada for a year, as I said, and it was amazing.

I have reviewed the BNP website, I'm just asking around to see if anyone has succeeded this way, and seeing how difficult it would be. :)
