Hello Experts,
I have a couple of questions regarding obtaining a spouse PR. I am a
new landed immigrant (October 25, 2003). I am getting married first
quarter of 2004 and would like to initiate the PR process for my
spouse. If anyone can answer the following 3 questions I would really
appreciate it:
1. Should I hire the services of a lawyer or do I just download the
forms from the CIC website and proceed with the application? For my PR
I completed the process without the help of a lawyer.
2. How long would the PR process take? Can this process be initiated
before the wedding?
3. In the interim can my spouse enter Canada on a tourist or fiancee
visa?
Look forward to hearing from you all. Thank you so much.
Regards,
RKartha

If you were able to complete your own PR without a lawyer or consutant then you shouldn't have problems doing the sponsoring by
filling in the forms completely and correctly.

Wait until after the wedding. Spouse could do the medical before the wedding and you could fill in the forms ahead of wedding and
just date them and do finishing touches after the honeymoon.

There isn't a fiancée visa for Canada any more. Too messy for me to answer the tourist part, as I'm not an expert. But this question
has been posted almost every day so maybe check the other letters here to find the longer and expert answers if you don't get a
quick reply.
