Default Spouse Language Test

I'm struggling to find the answer to what I'm sure will be a simple answer, and answered quickly on here.
Does the spouse of the principle applicant need to take a language test (IELTS) for PR application?
And will your answer change on 1st January?

Is Google broken today ?

Which PR stream? FSW? Family class? ...

Which language?

Yes, and no, is my answer; and yes, possibly, my answer might change, or it might not, on 1/1/2015.

Google is just full of irrelevant information, CIC is as useful as a lamp without a bulb. Thought I would just throw the question out there!
I have a nomination from Saskatchewan through international skilled worker. The Language would be English.

Thanks for the clarification

You, as principal applicant, need to take the language test. Your spouse *can* do so too (adds points, if you need them) but is not *necessarily* required to do so.

I agree that CIC website isn't brilliant, but the info *is* all there . I suggest going through a "dummy" application run & reading the notes/guides for the relevant questions.

1. After January 1st when Express Entry, kicks in there are NO points for spouse language ability. See: Express Entry – Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) criteria for the point breakdown.

OK thank you, I always struggle to find the info I need on CIC, and google you have to be so careful, because there are so many unofficial websites out there that google bring up, you don't know what is true.
