Not trying to get my hopes up, but what sort of timeline can we expect
for hearing back from Buffalo?
My fiance and I just submitted my application to sponsor her priority
post yesterday, so it should be in Mississauga tomorrow. She's still
in the US, so it's sent as an Outside of Canada application.
She's a US citizen, has been all her life, had a clean background
check, no health problems, etc. etc. I make an acceptable amount of
money, have no criminal record, so on and so forth. Basically we're as
plain vanilla as they come, and shouldn't have any nasty surprises pop
up. We were able to use the revised forms from February 2003, and sent
the medical exam results with the application. I made sure all the
paperwork was accounted for, I doubt we're missing anything.
We submitted a conjugal partner application, and had a half-inch thick
envelope stuffed with boarding passes, telephone bills, e-mails,
letters from family, and so forth. I think we're safe there. We're
actually getting married in June of this year, but I wanted a head
start. If possible, could someone give me an idea of how long until
she can begin working here?

I think your case will be either one extreme or the other. I know of a
couple of people in the UK doing conjugal cases that seem to have been quite
quick and hassle free. In the US i know a coupleof people who have done
married spouse applications that were very fast, like 4-5 months in total.
However i know of one person in the US who has the same situation as you ie
conjugal he is canadian, partner is american , claims to be a
straightforward case with loads of documentary evidence and so forth. Yet
his partner has just been called for an interview at Los Angeles.
So either they are starting to be tougher on conjugal applications in
Buffalo or they were just unlucky etc.

Total processing time will depend on whether an interview is nececssary or
not.
No interview is about 4-6 months.
Intervierw is about 7-10 months.

Thank you very much for this summary, Berto. I'm hoping we'll avoid
the interview, but I guess it all depends on how well we've proved our
relationship.
