Default Spousal Immigration

Hi,

Here is the timeline for my wife (spousal application through New
Delhi Office):

Jan 2003: recieved request for passport, interview waived and positive
decision made. Also asked for the date on which the medical was done,
so that they could match up the medical with her application.

Feb 9th 2003: New Delhi recieved passport

Still haven't got the visa or passport back.

How long does it take usually to get the passport back with visa?

Her medical expires in June. Will she get the visa before then?

Is there any she can do to speed up the process?

Thanks for your help.
Ajay

I'm really curious about what was written in the letter you received in
January, especialy what it is you mean by "positive decision made". I am
also sponsor of my wife, through Delhi office; she received request for
passport and medical (and anything else outstanding) last December, and
interview waiver. However, the letter also made it clear that the final
decision has not yet been made.
I recently heard from Mr. Andrew Miller in this NG who told me that nowadays
some visa offices are not waiting until the final decision before requesting
passports. This would seem to be the case with us, as we have not heard
anything further from Delhi.
I'd really like to know if your letter is the same one we received,
especially since your timeline is similar to ours (up to now). Your wife,
like mine, may be stuck without a passport for quite some time.

Regards,
Brian.

Hi Ajay,

My wife was sent forms to do medicals along with the request for such et.
al; actually she already had taken medicals last May ,but that was so early,
before our whole application. In our case the visa office seemed not either
not know or care about this, since they just sent new medical forms.
(Perhaps they do the same for everybody.) Their letter did advise that if
medicals were already done then we could supply the date and name of the
doctor for their reference. But we decided to redo them because the first
one would have expired before the possibility of getting the visa.

From what I hear, in many cases it's the security checks that take the most
time. If that's the case with your wife then your wait can be for quite a
while longer.
I don't have any answers more than this. I'm just waiting, same as you.

Your wife should be prepared to redo the medical. You can wait until they
send you a request for it, but I would do it before that happens, as it can
only add to your overall time. (That is, if processing is not yet complete
up to this coming June.) I would do it before June.
