Sponsoring newborn child from Pakistan.

Dear experts,

My wife and my self returned to Pakistan for baby birth a month back.

What is the procedure of sponsoring a newborn under new regulations, and how long
would it take because we need to return within 6 months to keep our PR status.

You cannot sponsor anyone if you are not in Canada.

Dear Experts,

What is the solution then, how would I take my newborn to Canada in this case, we can
not leave him here alone, there must be some solution to my problem?

Andrew I guess this guy has got to take his baby back to Canada on visitor status and
apply for PR inland?

Although I would make two observations:

1. I would have thought that most new immigrants to Canada, from whatever country,
should be quite keen for their children to be born on Canadian soil and not
somewhere else.

2. Why people don't check out the regulations *before* arranging something like this
is something of a mystery.

I'm not an expert, but in my personal opinion .. you should talk to CHC, Islamabad
and seek their advice, probably you can get a visit visa for your child and then file
the sponsorship case after getting into Canada. I hope CHC will understand your
situation, that you can not leave a newborn in pakistan and return to Canada.

Good luck ..

As AM indicated there is no solution apart from your returning to Canada and
re-establishing your and filing a sponosrship on behalf of your newborn. You should
have thought of this before you left. The only alternative would be to approach the
visa offcie in Isbad and make a plea for a visa or Ministers Permit but neither is
likely to be greeted favorably. Bite the bullet and return asap.

Dear Sir Jim Metcalfe ,

Why does you think getting visa for a newborn will be difficult, I have a
genuine problem and Canadian embassy in Islamabad should understand my problem.
Please advise.

Further more if I take my newborn on visit visa to Canada, what is the processing
time for getting newborn immigration done.

Dear "guest",

It is not Canadian Embassy's problem - it is your problem and you are the one who put
yourself into this mess. You may try asking for Minister's Permit as visitor visa
will be rejected, but there is no guarantee that you'll get one. Your newborn may be
required to undergo medicals before granting MP is even considered.

The procedure in Canada is quite simple and can be found by reading the appropriate
information at www.cic.gc.ca . Knowing the prevailing attitudes at the CHC in Isbad
I would be surprised if they will assist you and facilitate your childs entry to
Canada. Stranger things have happened but i would not count on it. But if you do not
apply you will never know. i think you have had enough advice on this topic.
Perghaps you would post your esperiences with the CHC so that other may benefit from
your problems.
