Default Sponsoring conjugal-partner, got the passport request

Hi Everybody,

Thanks for the all the information you have provided. We learned a lot
from your experiences.
I live in Montreal and sponsoring my conjugal partner (she is a Taiwan
citizen living in USA). Here is the list of some important dates. We
though they might give some clues to those whom are in similar
situations.

• Application sent to CPC in Mississauga but returned back for some
missing information on April 8 2003 (Medicals were missing - we have
not followed the recent changes in the immigration procedure)
• May 8 2003 CPC accepted the sponsorship and forwarded our case to
Buffalo and Quebec
• May 29 Quebec Immigration sent the applications materials for the
CSQ. We delayed sending these documents for about 2 weeks
• June 5 2003 First letter from Buffalo with the file number was
received
• June 11 2003 Initial assessment and interview waiver
• July 16 2003 CSQ was received
• August 8 2003: Letter from CPC for receipt of the Right of Permanent
Residence Fee (We paid it before it was requested)
• August 26 2003 Passport has been requested

Good luck to everyone

Al

Sigh. Must be nice; that's the sort of timeline we should have
gotten. We got our application in at the end of January--months
before May. My girl JUST got her interview date a few days ago; it's
set for november. She probably won't get HER passport request until
sometime in March 2004.

Just not right...not sure why some couples get their PR right away,
and others are subjected to months and months of needless
heel-dragging. Quite honestly, it's ridiculous.

Just spoke to Los Angeles Thursday - the Bring Forward Date for us is 7
October, but the lady I spoke to said she'd leave a copy of the cover page
on the file to see what happens.

Nick!! Don't tell me that your girl is *STILL* waiting for them to
finish up!

I'm sorry, man. That's utterly ridiculous! What is the hold-up?
Last I heard, you were just waiting for the medical to get sorted out.
What's going on for you guys? (I don't understand why you are
"subject" to a BF'D, when your process should be over already [since
your interview was way back in June])

This doesn't look too good for us, if you're still waiting, and your
interview was 3 months ago. I guess it's not as big of a deal for you
two, since you are living together. I just wish that they had some
service standards.

Robin

P.S. what number do you use to contact an actual human being in Los
Angeles?

Hi Robin,

I know exactly how you feel to be away from your "love" but do you
honestly know how lucky you are your girl has her interview date my
husband has been waiting for almost 8 months now JUST to get his
interview and still NO word ... I understand how hard it is but some
of us have been waiting ALOT longer. But I really know how you feel
one day can feel like forever. I hope your girl is with you soon

I am very sorry your husband has been waiting for so long. That's
ridiculous.

Yeah; I understand that we don't have it the worst--I belong to
another immigration group, and a good number of applicants have been
getting severely screwed (not only waiting for much longer than they
should have to, but also having to redo their medicals, FBI checks,
etc, because CIC can't get their act together and are heel-dragging
for absolutely no reason)

I've said this before; but I really wish that CIC had an effective
ombudsman who would be able to fix at least some of the problems with
the department. There is absolutely no justification for hindering
some applicants (who have followed the rules to the absolute letter),
and letting others just breeze on through.
I could understand a few delays if an applicant did something wrong on
the application; or otherwise doesn't meet the requirements. But
since we applied, many people (who have applied the exact same way we
did) who applied months after we did have been able to breeze on
through, with no problems. If THEY were able to be processed so
easily during the summer (when OUR, YOUR, and others' files were left
to stagnate in a shoe-box, due to "queues" and sluggish transfer
standards), then they should most definitely be hurrying along
applications like yours.

I want to thank you very much for the kind words. I sincerely hope
that the officers "working" on your file get back from Tim Hortens
very soon, so that you can finally get through this.

; )

Robin
