Default Sponsorin parents

Hi,

My wife and me are both recent immigrants and are going to sponsor her
parents.
I have a few questions.

1. I'm the only person who has income. I have read the Guide for sponsorship
(form 5196E)
and it looks like we are OK if I'm a cosigner and the only person who
has income. Is this true?

2. To prove financial ability to sponsor we have to show our earnings for
the past 12 months.
But I failed to find any notes that this should be income earned AFTER
LANDING.
To put it another way: does my income prior to landing count?

3. I believe that if I'm self-employed by contracting with an out of Canada
company (USA company, my previous full-time employer) I do meet
financial requirements for
sponsorship. Am I right?

4. My understanding is that only after-tax income is counted towards the
minimum financial requirements
for sponsorship. In our case it would be about CAD 38,000 for 5 family
members: 3 for my wife, me and a kid
and plus 2 for both of my wife's parents. Is that right?

Thanks.

Your US income prior to landing won't count. It has to be income earned from
Canadian sources (or from US but only if you reside in Canada and commute or
tele-commute to work in US and income was included in your Canadian tax
return) after you became a PR.
