Default Sponsor Wife while Sponsorer in USA

Hi,

I have lived, did grad education and worked in canada for the last 10
yrs. my current job ends June 30th. , with no option for renewal at
this time.

Whiles looking for jobs in Canada, I've got a one year job contract in
the US, starting July 1st.

I would want to sponsor my partner to come to Canada to join me,
however, collecting the country specific documentation is getting
slower, so I would not be able to submit the application before July
1.

Now, would i be allowed to sponsor when I move to the US? The
immigration canada document requires me to establish intent/evidence
you will reside in Canada when spouse joins, how do i accomplish this
given job uncertainties - i can establish prospectively - any ideas?
what do they mean by reasonable plans of settling in Canada?

/MN

what they mean is, the spousal category is intended to unite two family
members (ie husband and wife in this case) together *in Canada*. Thats the
whole premise. So if you planned on staying in the USA for years then there
is no point sponsoring yoru partner until you decide to move back to Canada.

A Canadian Citizen (PR's can't do this) is allowed to sponsor a spouse while
residing exclusivly outside Canada. So presuming you are a Canadian Citizen
then you living in the USA is no bar to sponsoring your spouse. However they
only want you to do this if you genuinley intend to move back to Canada with
your spouse once they get their PR visa. So they want you to establish
reasonable grounds to show your intent to relocate to Canada. I din't think
they look for anything super detailed, you don't have to have a job lined up
or buy a house before you move. They want more of a decleration from
yourself explicitly stating your intent to move back to Canada. So you woul
dprobably want to wait until at least half way through your job contract to
start applying and explain you intend to move back after that job contract
finishes.

You have to move back to Canada before, or with your spouse when they go as
a PR. They can't go off to Canada and land and live there if you are still
living in the USA because that is contrary to the whole point of giving them
PR to live with you in Canada. So it's pointless applying if you intend to
remain working the USA, at least until you decide to move back.

Is your spouse in the USA? if so you might as well jsut stay there with them
and then apply for their PR 6 months or so before you intend to move back to
Canada. IF they do not reside in the US and you hope you can get them
Canadian PR so they can more easily visit you in the US then that's not
really going to work.
