Default Spaniard renewing Canadian Visa Q's

I don't know if you have information for Spanish people coming to Canada but.....

A Spanish friend has been here on a one year working holiday visa, which expires at the end of April. He has an employer who is able and willing to sponser him to stay longer.

He is unsure of what options he has an far as renewal?
Should he get another Working Holiday Visa or LMO for his specific job or are there any other visas/routes that would be better.

How long would they be valid - does his employer specify how long he wants him to stay on for?

What are the advantages/disadvantages of getting that sorted here before he leaves or waiting and doing it all from Spain?

He is returning to Spain at the end of the month anyway and so either would be a possibility.

Thanks for your help.

IEC Spain is a one short deal he only could apply for another in Young Professional but requires a pre arranged contract.

His employer would have to advertise the position on the Job Bank for 2 weeks and then apply to HRSDC for an LMO and demonstrate that there are no Canadians/PRs available for the job, and it must be skilled. Depending on the province, 10-16 weeks processing. Then with an approved LMO he could apply for a work permit. The employer specifies, but whether the requested time will be given by Immigration/HRSDC is another matter.

He won't get it sorted before leaving. So if he gets an approved LMO, then on re-entry he can apply for a work permit.

He is returning to Spain at the end of the month anyway and so either would be a possibility.

PS according to http://tinyurl.com/7o594kd there no space left, but the date is for 2011, so no idea what is happening for 2012.
Thanks for your help.
