Default SOWP to study permit

Hi all,

Here's a question; I have been accepted onto a program of study starting in May 2014, (can't start until husband finishes!). I am in Canada on a SOWP valid until March 31st 2014. If I apply for my study permit now, when it comes through, will I be able to still use my work permit until it expires and then switch to my study permit in April 2014?

Thanks in advance!!

1. Yes, if you applied for a study permit now, as soon as you receive it your work permit is invalid.
2. My question is why would you apply for a study permit a year in advance? It only takes 29 days if you apply on line in Canada.

I have just realised I got a reply!! Thank you...

I have actually had contradictory info to this, saying that I can actually hold a work visa and study visa at the same time and that there is no reason why I can't keep working until my SOWP expires?!?!? Does anyone know for sure?
