Hello! I have a few questions for whoever would like to or could answer them:
1. My boyfriend had already applied the first days of January this year to
immigrate to Canada as Independant. I haven’t applied yet because, someone
told us, that would slow down the process if I apply as my boyfriends
"dependant" because we are not legally married yet. We don’t know what to
do. Should I wait until he gets his approval (in case he gets it and being
optimistic) and then apply as his dependant even though we are not married yet?,
should I apply as another independent skill worker, and then marry once we are
in Canada? (That if they want us both), should I apply now, so our file would be
process as one, Just saying that we will get marry in the near future? Do you
have any experience with this?.. .

2. As I am a veterinary student ( I will be getting my degree in Argentina next
year 2003) I don´t know in which category of "intended occupation" I should
apply... there is the posibility of "vet assistant", because that is my work
here, but again, I don´t have any certificate. Being outside Canada is difficult
for me to get a Canadian license to work. Could I say I will work of something I
don´t have the license yet, but I will get it when I go there?... What do you
think I should do?

Thanks a lot in advance Tzazu

The simplest way to achieve your goal of immigrating together is to add your
application to your boyfriend's case if you can qualify as his dependant - legally
married or living together for at least a year as a common-law couple. If you are not
living together as a common-law couple then the best option will be to get married as
soon as possible and then add your application to his case before he gets approved.
As you are still a student you may not qualify when applying individually.
