Default Skilled Worker Class - Spouse Work Experience

I have just noticed that the Visa Office Specific instructions indicate that you should provide employment details (contracts and reference letters) for your spouse as well as youself when applying as a Skilled Worker. Is this absolutely necessery, since amongst other issues, my wife has not worked for anyone other than herself since before the birth of our son 13 years ago?

Bump to top. Surely someone must have experience of this.

My wife had been self-employed for over 10 years when we made our application. We said this and included a couple of reference letters from clients. We also had to get a reference letter for her employer before she became self-employed.

Thanks. This is such a pain, but needs must

How many "couple of" letters? One year - one letter, = 10 papers, or need more?

We submitted just two reference letters from clients. I don't even think (but can't remember for sure) that these were a requirement. The lawyer we were dealing with was most concerned that we presented CIC with as much evidence as possible that we would be able to settle and establish ourselves in Canada. One of the reference letters we submitted for my OH was from a well known TV presenter on the subject so it helped to show that she had skills that were transferable to Canada.

This was 10 years ago and things may have changed now.
