Is it true you have to wait one months after you land to get you sin card . thanks hesse

Nope, you can go to the local service Canada and be issued straight away with a SIN (with a work permit, PR card or your permanent residence print out thingy). The number is issued there and then and you get the card delivered a few days later.

if you're moving to Ontario, you're probably thinking of the OHIP card which is only granted after 90 days

Depends which office and how busy they are, but one month could be realistic for actually getting the SIN card.

What will be more useful to you, is that they tell you your SIN number when you apply, so you can give that to your employer. Mine was happy to accept that, and I never bothered showing them the card when it arrived.
